Maju Chowdhury was an influential person who was born in a Chowdhury family in Shakchar Union area of Laxmipur Sadar Upazila. Maju Chowdhury was the second son of Pana Mia Haji. He was the most talented of the four sons of Pana Mia. At that time he came to Rahmat Khali area and bought more than a hundred plots of land, so far no one was as influential or established as him. This Maju Chowdhury Hat was established before the independence of Bangladesh. It has been mentioned by the temporary people here since 1985. Since then, the market place of Maju Chowdhury has become well known. Maju Chowdhury Hat is one of the tourist destinations and city in the coastal region of Bangladesh. It is located in Charramani Mohan Union under Laxmipur Sadar Upazila in southeastern Bangladesh. The town was established in 1975 under the name of Maju Chowdhury Hat. Its previous name was Rahmat Khali. Thirty percent of the people of Barisal division travel through this Maju Chowdhury Hat.
