Fisheries Resources:

Hilsa is our national fish. Largest and most important as a single species. Hilsa's contribution to fish production in the country is about 12-13%. Hilsa production in the Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur district is approximately 13,500 MT, which is about 50 crore taka. By fulfilling the local requirement, the fish fish go to different areas of the country and they are exported abroad and exported.

In Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur district, there are around 6500 fishermen in 06 unions, about 60% of them are in jail, and 40% take the hilsa during part time. In addition to catching up, marketing, transport, processing, boat development, 10000 families directly and indirectly earn their livelihood by hilsha fish.

 

 

Agricultural Resources:

Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila economy mainly depends on agriculture. Laxmipur soil, climate and water are suitable for the production of various crops. 75% of the total households in this upazila are somehow involved in crop production. Paddy, soybean, jute, marich, sarasa, potato, almond and akhum are the main crops of this upazila. Besides, extensive cultivation of betel nut and coconut is observed in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila. There are also abundant fruit trees. Mango, blackberry, jackfruit, banana, papaya, guava, lemon, bell and strawberry are some of the local fruits.

 

 

Animal Resources:

According to 1996, Krishi Kumari in rural areas of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila, 36% of rural households keep cattle. 222 poultry chicken farms and 102 livestock farms have been upgraded to Laksmipur from livestock.
